Anti-Mag's Coming Out Partay!

Anti-Mag along with the gorgeous and talented ladies of Sugar Shack Burlesque will be hosting the first official Anti-Mag Presents Party. I'm very excited as I wanted to take an opportunity to introduce you all, my adored readers, to the actual artists that Anti-Mag features. This party will be held every two months in NY and I'm open to all who'd like to participate in becoming part of the community in which I expose.

Goody Bags designed by Joel Decatur will be handed out for FREE to the first 50 attendants...

You will be dazzled by the burlesque talents of the Sugar Shack ladies who will be styled by the ever so lovely Miss Jayme J...

You will be entertained by the vocal stylings of Ms. Shira...

You will be enchanted by the artworks of Dave Moore, Matt Siren and Esther Sanchez....

and well...I'll be there!

I do hope everyone comes out to celebrate. I appreciate everyone's support and am just excited to have this opportunity as well as give everyone a chance to display their talents.

Lovable February!

HOLA!

Well I do hope everyone is having an eventful new year. I will be celebrating the Year of the Rat. What exactly does that mean? Well the Chinese new year is on February 7th and although I'm not a Rat it is going to be a good year for us all.

A Rat Year is a time of hard work, activity, and renewal. This is a good year to begin a new job, get married, launch a product or make a fresh start. Ventures begun now may not yield fast returns, but opportunities will come for people who are well prepared and resourceful. The best way for you to succeed is to be patient, let things develop slowly, and make the most of every opening you can find. People born in an Earth Rat are said to be logical realists, shrewd, charming, ambitious, and inventive.

We are very close to confirming a date for the Anti-Mag/Sugar Shack showcase. As of yet it has been confirmed that artist Matt Siren will be showing and band What What Where will be performing.
More artists will be confirmed and I'm still going full steam ahead on the actual event. More to come....

Anti-Mag Tops 2007!

My Tops - 2007
It is the end of the year and although I feel that this year has been hellish for me, I have to say that in music it has been a myriad of good discoveries. So, like all other magazines I felt that I needed to list my top 10 albums of 2007 and some other fun stuff. Still waiting for the revolution to take place but think we are on the verge. If we can complete the assasintation of Fall Out Boy and Panic At the Disco, we will be closer to achieving the goal of creating real music for real people. Boys, put the tight pants away because what's going to take place in the coming year I predict will be an onslaught of sound which will be worthy of a decent wardrobe.

Top Albums - These are in no particular order - These are the records I listened to most which had the best overall quality.

1. Arctic Monkeys - Favourite Worse Nightmare
2. Battles - Mirrored
3. Grinderman - Grinderman
4. M.I.A. - Kala
5. Radiohead - In Rainbows

Top Shows - I saw a lot of music this year...I saw a lot of BAD music this year, I did however see some kick ass shows that left me a little sweaty.

1. Muse at Madison Square Garden - Phenomenal
2. The Killers at MSG - Lovely
3. Foo Fighters at Irving Plaza - Rock the hell outta here!
4. Generals & Majors at the Annex - not just a little sweaty, a whole lotta sweaty!
5. Hot Rod Circuit at Knitting Factory - for a band that sux they sure rocked the house.
6. Zac Clark at Knitting Factory - kid knows how to swoon a crowd.
7. Queen Killing Kings at Annex - piano rock never looked so hot.
8. Brass Band - I don't know their real name, but they play in the Union Square station and they kill it!
9. The Prids at Southpaw - all I can say is...what a delightful discovery.
10. Jack's Mannequin at anywhere and everywhere - they are just an incredible bunch of musicians...I've never been to a bad performance.

I am now accepting donations for the magazine. I hate asking for money but I feel my time and efforts are worth it! Anti-Mag and SugarShack are teaming together for end of the month showcases to give people an opportunity to mingle with the very artists, musicians and designers that I feature. I'm hoping that with these showcases people will get to meet these amazing individuals who offer their meaningful arts to the world. I'm also getting into featuring some charitable causes as well to try and get people actively involved in making the world go round. What's life if you cannot give a little people! 2 New Features!

Hello all! I trust everyone is enjoying the holiday season. I've finally finished a few more features for you all. It has been a tough road but I think I'm back into creative zone. Happy Hanukkah to all my Jewish friends out there. Things are moving along here and I'm working on more features as usual. I recently went to the Knitting Factory to see my friends Hero Pattern perform. I also ventured to Galapagos to see The World Famous "BOB" perform with a plethora of beauties. She announced her move to the Bowery Poetry Club across from CBGB's. If you get a chance to check her out please do, she is quite the performer. Last night I attended Envoy art gallery to check out future feature Kind Monitor do an acoustic set and also checked out the art work of Marc Séguin. He does some interesting stuff. I am attending the presentation of New Amsterdames at HERE Arts Center on Monday.

Hot Rod Circuit is about to embark on their last tour. If you have never seen them and are in the tour area, please go check them out. They are one of the best live bands I know. Check out their MySpace for tour dates.

So, lots going on and much to tell. Stay tuned....it is finally cold here in New York and although unwanted I must say the change could do me good.
